Dr. Grace Qiao

MD, FRCSC

Dr Grace Qiao is a comprehensive ophthalmologist with specialized focus in cataract surgery and oculoplastics. She is a Vancouverite who completed her undergraduate honours degree, medical doctorate, and ophthalmology residency all at the University of British Columbia. She is board certified as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) and is a member of Doctors of BC, Canadian Medical Association, BC Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, Canadian Ophthalmological Society, and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

Dr Qiao is an instructor at UBC’s Faculty of Medicine where she is actively involved in training medical students and residents. Medical education is an important part of her practice and she serves as the director of the Mount St Joseph Hospital cataract surgery residency rotation. She is a member of Providence Health Care’s Department of Ophthalmology and provides services at St Paul’s Hospital, Mount St Joseph Hospital and LASIK MD. She also performs refractive lens exchange (RLE) and implantable collamer lens (ICL) surgeries in Victoria, BC.

Dr Qiao speaks English and semi-fluent Mandarin. Outside of work she enjoys taking weekend trips to the Gulf Islands with her family, reading, and supporting local arts and culture.

Dr. Majd Mustafa

MD, FRCSC, DABO

Dr. Majd Mustafa is a double board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery and corneal disease. He completed his medical degree at the University of British Columbia followed by an anterior segment surgery research fellowship under the renowned Ike Ahmed in Toronto. He completed ophthalmology residency at McGill University, where he was chief resident, followed by a cornea fellowship at Tulane University in New Orleans.

Dr. Mustafa is an instructor at the University of British Columbia, where he trains medical students and residents. He previously worked as a locum surgeon across six sites in British Columbia and served as an adjunct professor at the Ivey Eye Institute at Western University, where he led the cornea service.

He believes in treating patients like family, ensuring they fully understand their treatment options. Dr. Mustafa speaks English, Arabic, and French, and is learning Punjabi from his patients. Outside of work, he enjoys running, playing soccer, and participating in surgical mission trips, most recently in Jordan.
